About

Everything behind the attempt.

Attempt is one record of a competitive powerlifter, kept by the people who already touch that record: the lifter, their coach, their gym and the meet they enter. The sport runs on spreadsheets, group chats, paper scoresheets and a federation results PDF. Attempt is the attempt to hold it in one place.

The loop

Every part of Attempt sits somewhere on one circuit. Nothing is built that does not feed the next step of it.

  1. 1

    Identity

A lifter has one page: bests, weight class, meet history, honors, career graph. It is the same page whether a coach, a meet director or a stranger opens it.

  2. 2

    Registration

Meets are listed with the detail that decides whether you enter: date, federation, venue, divisions, fees, what closes when. Entering puts the meet on your profile.

  3. 3

    Meet day

MeetOS runs the competition: flights, weigh-in, the score table, three referee lights, the attempt board. Spectators follow the platform live.

  4. 4

    Results

Results come off the platform and onto the lifter, the rankings and the meet page, without anyone retyping a scoresheet.

  5. 5

    Profile

The result lands back on the same page it started from. The next block is programmed against it, and the loop starts again.

Who runs it

Attempt is an independent product in beta. It is not owned by, funded by, or run on behalf of a federation, a gym chain or a coaching business. It is built by a small team who compete and coach in the sport, and it is early enough that the person who reads your email is the person who wrote the page you are complaining about.

Because it is in beta: things change without notice, some surfaces are unfinished, and the legal pages are working drafts that counsel has not reviewed yet. Where a page shows seeded example data it says so on the page. What has changed, and when, is written down on the patch notes page.

Where the data comes from

Competition results shown on lifter profiles and rankings come from OpenPowerlifting, used under CC BY-SA 4.0 and attributed wherever it appears. Training data belongs to the lifter and their coach, and is private unless the lifter chooses otherwise.

Attempt is not affiliated with or endorsed by any powerlifting federation or OpenPowerlifting. Competition data from OpenPowerlifting under CC BY-SA 4.0 where shown.
